A NEW set of pilot programs will assist locals in finding employment in the healthcare industry. A combined £610,000 has been allocated to these activities by the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) and Essex County Council. Three challenging work streams make up the project.
The Trust will expand its popular “Southend Ambition 2050” programme as part of Anchor Ambition. The engagement will now include Canvey Island, rural Braintree, and Basildon. Residents can get trustworthy jobs in the NHS with the aid of Anchor Ambition. By 2025, it will enable 300 or more residents to find employment and engage them. Skills, apps, and onboarding assistance will all be interventions. The application and hiring procedure will also be made simpler by the workstream.
The second workstream will develop a brand-new online learning platform featuring bite-sized content. It will inspire more than 1,500 youth to work in the NHS as the upcoming generation of professionals. The portal will be built by local digital specialists Hundo. They have already debuted a cutting-edge virtual job experience service based on a video game. On the new platforms, The Trust will house the necessary training materials. Before joining, candidates can do these to aid in their confidence as they move through the hiring process.
Nine underprivileged young people can participate in the Health Start workstream for up to four months and receive compensation. Young people can better understand the workplace with the aid of this workstream. The purpose of it is to increase aspirations and promote upcoming NHS applications. The course will get assistance and promotion from Essex County Council’s Employability and Skills Team. Constant community outreach will be used to engage the locals. Additionally, the well-known Essex Careers Magazine will include opportunities.
“We are delighted to be collaborating with NHS partners on this innovative project,” said Councillor Louise McKinlay, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leveling Up, Communities and Business Engagement. Our Leveling Up goals will be furthered by this collaboration. We are certain of it. We’ll be able to provide interventions in areas where they’ll be most effective. Positive results will benefit both our inclusive and dynamic economy and specific residents.

Added Councillor Tony Ball, Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning, and Employability for Essex County Council: “More than 8% of UK healthcare posts are now unfilled. This deficit could endanger the health of our NHS if it is not resolved. This initiative will deal with these persistent issues. We’ll ensure that those who need them most get future-proof opportunities along the way. With this big initiative, we’re eager to move forward. As our colleagues in the NHS produce results, we will share them.”
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust’s Kevin Garrod, the manager of the Anchor program, said: “We are honored to carry out this ambitious work. To guarantee its success, Essex County Council’s cooperation is necessary. Their local knowledge and our professional experience will be combined in the project. As a result, we will be able to interact with our communities in a way we haven’t been able to previously, creating new chances that will present skills and job openings at our hospitals and the neighborhood NHS.
He concluded that as the pilot’s demands change, we will adapt using data and insight. It will also enable us to expand the project’s scope as it moves forward and serve even more individuals in mid and south Essex.
