Opportunities for Indian Nurses in Singapore
For Indian nurses, Singapore is a good option for building an international nursing career. Foreign-trained nurses can apply for registration or enrolment with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB), but they must meet the required criteria. SNB has said that foreign-trained nurses must have an employment offer from an eligible Singapore healthcare institution before their registration or enrolment application can be considered
Their nursing education must be assessed as equivalent to the relevant Singapore programme, and they need nursing registration and a current practising licence in their home country. Relevant recent clinical experience is also required.
What About the Nursing Licence?
Getting a job offer is only one part of the process. Foreign-trained nurses need to complete the SNB registration process, document verification and a licensing examination. The SNB currently requires foreign-trained nurses to take the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse Licence Examination, depending on their pathway.
The examination is conducted through computer-based testing at designated Pearson VUE test centres. Applicants should therefore prepare their nursing certificates, transcripts, registration documents, practising licence and employment records carefully. SNB also requires verification of nursing registration and education documents.
