A recent flight from India to Abu Dhabi became the scene of an amazing act of kindness and bravery. On the flight were a few Indian nurses who were on their way to the UAE to start a new chapter of their lives. But, even before they could set foot in their new facilities, they had their first patient thousands of feet off the ground.
Utilising their instincts and compassion, the nurses ended up saving a man’s life that day. And in that moment, they demonstrated to the entire world what it means to be a nurse.
A Life Saved at 30,000 Feet
Mid-flight, a passenger suddenly collapsed. The cabin crew’s call for a medical professional to assist on the intercom sent everyone in the bus to the kitchen in a panic until they heard a few calm and confident voices.
Three nurses from India stepped forward, not in scrubs or any hospital equipment — just instinct, training, and compassion.
They did what they could with very little. A pulse check in the mid airway, and basic first aid. They stayed with him to comfort him and get him stable until the plane landed safely in Abu Dhabi, and medical staff took over.
And by that time, the entire cabin had seen something beautiful in humanity, at work.

For these nurses, helping an individual in distress was second nature; they didn’t think twice. Their display of courage, compassion, and composure was purportedly the reason why Indian nurses are loved and respected around the world.
