Since the beginning of 2022, the average monthly increase in healthcare employment has been substantially larger, adding almost 45,000 positions in the US.
Healthcare has been a significant job industry over the last decade. The sector remains one of the best-paying employers in the country and continues to hire more nurses, technicians, and other health workers. Hospitals are hiring more than ever because they need workers in many departments.
According to the employment situation summary from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), healthcare was once again among the top industries with significant job gains in November.

Last month, the healthcare sector added 45,000 jobs above leisure, hospitality, and government. Also, Ambulatory healthcare had a significant boost with +23,000 jobs. Hospitals added 11,000 jobs, while nursing homes and other residential care facilities added 10,000 positions.
So far in 2022, the healthcare sector gained 18,000 jobs in January, 64,000 in February, 8,000 in March, 34,000 in April, 28,000 in May, 57,000 in June, 70,000 in July, 48,000 in August, 60,000 in September, 53,000 in October, 45,000 in November.
According to the BLS, healthcare employment has grown by 47,000 jobs on average per month so far in 2022, a significant increase from the 9,000 jobs added on average each month in 2021. Healthcare remains one of the most important industries in the American economy. Only recently this year, it added jobs at nearly thrice the hiring rate than before.
