According to Healthcare Business International, the number of nurses hired in European countries has risen significantly after COVID-19.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
In March, Healthcare Business International (HBI) went through the annual data of the inflow of nurses in five Western European countries, including the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. Its report is based on The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n With a constant increase in nurses until 2016, the United Kingdom had the most nurses. In 2020, 4,110 people from India made it to the UK. In 2023, the number increased by 53% to 6,304, and 4,247 people arrived from the Philippines in 2021, a more than 50% rise from the previous year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The number of nurses traveling from Africa has also increased significantly. In the UK in 2020, there were 527 Nigerian nurses. Zimbabwean nurses had 221 employees in 2020, but by 2021, that number had risen to 609, a 175% growth.<\/span><\/p>\n Germany was the other nation with a constant, notable upward trend. However, the inflow levels are relatively low and have stayed fairly steady for France.<\/span><\/p>\n Similarly, low nurse inflow rates have also been observed in Spain, which had been slowly declining until lately. Despite having many Spanish-speaking nations on the list, including Chile, Peru, Venezuela, and Colombia, Portugal, a neighboring European country, came first in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n Lastly, nurses immigrating to Italy is quite rare.
